Delete your account
You can delete your EzStaw account yourself, from the dashboard, without asking us. This page explains the steps and what happens to your data afterwards.
Before you start
We check this when you ask to delete, and we will tell you which shops are in the way. The check is deliberately strict: if we cannot confirm what you own, the deletion is refused rather than allowed through. That way a temporary fault can never delete the owner of a shop that is still trading.
Deleting your account is permanent. Take any exports you want first, from Products, Orders and Customers in the dashboard.
Deleting your account
- Sign in and open Account in the dashboard.
- Scroll to Danger zone at the bottom of the page.
- Choose Delete account and confirm.
It takes effect immediately. You will be signed out of every device, and the login will stop working.
What we delete
- Your identity verification documents. These are erased from our storage, not just hidden.
- Your email address and phone number, which are replaced with anonymous values so the account can no longer be traced back to you or used to contact you.
- Your ability to sign in. Every active session is revoked.
We also tell the rest of the platform that the account is gone, so the services that hold related records can act on it.
What we keep, and why
Every payment through EzStaw is written to a double-entry ledger, which is the accounting record of money that actually moved between real people. We cannot delete one side of that record on request without breaking it, and we are required to keep it. The same applies to the audit log of significant actions on an account.
What we can do, and do, is remove your name from it. After deletion those records no longer identify you.
The Privacy Policy sets out what we hold and for how long.
If you only want to close one shop
You do not have to delete your account to close a shop. In the dashboard, open the shop, go to Settings and then Danger zone. From there you can either send a transfer invite to the person taking it over, or close the shop outright.
Closing a shop takes the storefront offline immediately, removes staff access, and cancels its billing. Product and order records are kept but are no longer reachable from the dashboard. It cannot be undone.
Money held in escrow for orders that have already been delivered still belongs to you and will be paid out. Money held for orders that were never delivered goes back to the customers who paid it.
If you are a shopper, not a merchant
If you bought something from a shop on EzStaw, your details belong to that shop rather than to us, so the request goes to them. Every EzStaw storefront has a privacy page at /privacy, for example theshopname.ezstaw.com/privacy. From there you can ask for a copy of your data or ask for it to be deleted.
Your record is found using the phone number you used at checkout, so use that number when you make the request. If the shop does not respond, contact us and we will help.
If you cannot sign in
Try resetting your password first, since self-service deletion is faster and more certain than anything we can do for you.
If you still cannot get in, write to us from the email address on the account and tell us you want it deleted. We will need to confirm it is really you before we act, because deleting an account on the word of whoever asked is its own security problem.
You can reach us through the contact form.
